SealSkinz receives award for cut-resistant glove
UK-based manufacturer of close-fitting waterproof breathable socks, hats and gloves SealSkinz have been awarded the ‘Best Innovation in PPE Components and Accessories’ at the Professional Clothing Awards.
SATRA set up the awards programme for personal protective equipment (PPE) products. At a ceremony in April in the UK city of Coventry, it awarded the SealSkinz for its innovation.
The award show recognises the different elements that impact on wearer safety, wellbeing and brand identity and those pushing the boundaries in technical innovation.
The award-winning product in question is the Cut Resistant Glove, a waterproof, windproof, breathable and cut resistant glove uniquely knitted in spun steel. The glove provides a combination of protection, strength and dexterity with excellent grip, according to SealSkinz.
The glove is made from a seamless three-layer construction consisting of a knitted spun steel outer; a waterproof breathable membrane and a merino wool inner. This provides full protection against water, weak chemicals, sand, gravel, grit, micro-organisms, micro biological hazards and also provides the highest possible level of blade cut resistance and tear resistance.
Although made using spun steel, it is machine washable, close fitting, dexterous and lined with merino wool to offer thermal properties and moisture control.
The Cut Resistant Glove was launched in October 2011.
