Sealskinz targets wider audience with first summer collection

David Richards, head of marketing, said: “The challenge for our designers wasn’t to break the mould, just to reapply our knowledge. The spring /summer collection brings in new technologies and sees established, successful ones used in new ways.”
The collection has ranges for outdoors, Mountain Biking; Road Biking, and now Running, including water-resistant gloves and hats and the first single layer socks. New technologies include Isolfil, a yarn is 160 times less absorbent than cotton and five times more durable than wool.
After a successful introduction in gloves, Nanosealz is seen for the first time in socks. The fabric is altered at a molecular level to create hydrophobic ‘whiskers’ on the fibres that water cannot penetrate.
The Halo glove in the new run category is made up of a triple LED light integrated into the back of a lightweight glove. The light is visible from 150m and has a run time of 200 hours.
