Alvanon president Ed Gribbin will discuss the various aspects involved in attaining optimal fit in clothing at the upcoming Gerber Technology Ideation 2013 conference, which runs on October 10-11 at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Entitled ‘Aesthetic versus Technical Fit: Best Practices in Executing Both’, the presentation is scheduled to take place on October 10 at 11:30 am.

Mr Gribbin will also take part in a discussion panel on global fit issues entitled ‘All Shapes and Sizes’. The aim of the discussion will be to establish ways of modifying clothing so that it is better adapted to fit local populations.

“The creative, merchant and technical teams involved in product development have different responsibilities – and sometimes opposing viewpoints – as it relates to fit and sizing,” Mr Gribbin says.

“The most successful brands and retailers offer textbook examples on how to resolve these differences.”

Alvanon captures 3D body shapes in data collection scanners and then analyses the data to generate a picture of ‘dominant body shapes’. It uses this data to create physical AlvaForms, which are designed to represent the real body shapes, measurements and posture characteristics of consumers.

Ideation 2013 is Gerber Technology’s 15th annual software conference for professionals who use the company’s CAD and PLM solutions.
