BioAg Alliance helps Novozymes to a strong start to the year
Danish biotech company Novozymes has published its results for the first quarter of 2014, posting an 11% increase in sales compared to the same quarter in 2013 and a 30% increase in earnings.

The company said its results were partly driven by “a one-time positive impact” from the launch of the BioAg Alliance project, a long-term strategic alliance with Monsanto to develop environmentally friendly products to make global agriculture more sustainable. On announcing the results, Novozymes chief executive, Peder Holk Nielsen, said the BioAg Alliance was “one of Novozymes’ most significant projects for the years ahead”.

Separately, Novozymes has announced that it will open a new research and development centre in North Carolina, investing $36 million and creating 100 new science jobs. The new centre will be dedicated to the company’s bioagricultural business.
