Enzyme specialist Novozymes has held a seminar at Denmark’s embassy in Pakistan’s capital city, Lahore. It is the first in a series of seminars, business meetings and textile mill visits that the Danish company is organising to help boots the competitiveness of the textile industry in Pakistan.

“Novozymes understands the value for the Pakistan textile industry to continue to remain competitive in the global textile arena and would like to support this with the help of their solutions,” said Jens Kolind, vice president of technical industries at Novozymes.

Among the challenges facing the Pakistani textile industry is the cost of energy, water and raw materials, which is hampering the country’s efforts to be competitive on the global stage. Costs could be reduced by using enzyme solutions, such as those provided by Novozymes.

During the seminar, it presented solutions that could cut energy costs by 25% and water consumption by up to 75%. They would also reduce processing temperatures by 20°C and cut the total processing time by up to 90 minutes.

Further events will be held in Faisalabad and Karachi in the coming days.
