The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) programme seeks out individuals who demonstrate how the SDGs can enable businesses to “unlock economic, social and environmental gains for the world”.
On announcing Clause Stig Pedersen as one of the ten pioneers for 2016, the United Nations said: “He has brought thought leadership and action to developing a groundbreaking business strategy centred on sustainability and partnerships, with the purpose of developing bio-based solutions for the challenges of a growing world, especially on water, food and energy.”
It added that Mr Pedersen and his team have developed a strategic framework for business development and innovation based on the 17 SDGs and that Novozymes was the first company to communicate its sustainability efforts according to the SDGs, “aligning core business accordingly”.
