Speedo launches ‘aquatic’ running shoes

Swimwear brand Speedo is moving further into the footwear sector and has signed a two-year deal with insole manufacturer OrthoLite.

The insoles are used for FST, a new all-terrain shoe engineered for triathlon, trail running and any activity in and around the water.

The shoe is built with non-marking Vibram outsoles, a cushioned low-profile midsole and a hydrophobic, quick-drying monofilament mesh.

“We’re excited to partner with Speedo to expand into the aquatic footwear space,” said OrthoLite president Pamela Gelsomini.

Speedo USA is launching 15 shoes in 2014, including the Exsqueeze Me flip flops and sandals, the Quantum amphibious sandal and the aqua-aerobic TRBZ.
