Invista renews focus on biotechnology

Polymers and fibres producer Invista has signed an agreement with LanzaTech to speed up commercialisation of a gas-fermentation technology under development at the polymers producer’s UK-based bioscience laboratory.

The companies will collaborate on projects to convert CO2/H2 feedstocks into industrial chemicals.

Invista said biotechnology has the potential to significantly improve the cost and availability of several chemicals and raw materials that are used to produce its products.

The first commercialisation of this technology is expected by 2018.
