Waterproof coating manufacturer Nikwax has appointed a former REI director as head of its North American business.

Rick Meade was with the outdoor retailer for 15 years, most recently as director of merchandising.

Nikwax CEO Nick Brown said the company is expanding its capacity to serve the outdoor sector and is developing products such PFC-free hydrophobic down.

“We foresee Rick’s comprehensive knowledge of outdoor brands and products, strong leadership skills and ability to drive things forward to be a huge asset as we develop these new markets and opportunities,” he added.
