FDRA envisages new audit process on the back of Code of Conduct
The Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America association is hoping that its newly published Code of Conduct for factories will create a framework around which it can build an audit programme for manufacturers around the globe.

The association - which has 200 brand members including Nike, Puma and Wolverine - launched the code in July and is in the process of distributing it to member factories and interested parties.

It looked at a number of established codes and collated best practices in a move it hopes will “synchronise the industry”.

The next step is to launch a factory recognition programme where brands and retailers can nominate factories that they feel adhere to the continuous improvement model that’s outlined.

“A sub-committee will review submissions and nominations as well as recent third-party audits to see whether or not the factories meet, or are doing a good job trying to meet, the Code of Conduct,” Matt Priest, FDRA president, told sportstextiles.com.
