Koreans keen to upgrade Bangladesh’s textile industry

The Korean ambassador to Bangladesh has urged garment makers in the country to add value by moving into performance textiles and value-added products.

Lee Yun-young said Korean companies are ready to support upgrades in terms of machinery and that Bangladesh's apparel exports to Korea have risen 69% per year over the past five years. “It's time to move to the new phase,” he said.

The comments were made at the Textech Bangladesh 2014 International Expo, one of the biggest machinery fairs in the country.
