Kelheim innovations catch the eye

Viscose fibre manufacturer Kelheim Fibres has announced that a new speciality fibre, Bramante, is in the running for the award in the best innovation in medical textiles category of the ITMA Future Materials Awards, organised by the International Textile Machinery Association.

Bramante is a highly absorbent hollow viscose fibre capable of absorbing liquid to around 250% of its own weight. Kelheim views it as a product with great potential in medical applications such as incontinence pads for older people.

Kelheim has also been nominated in another category in the same awards, that of most innovative large company.
