PrimaLoft’s  Performance Down Blends hybrid insulation solutions have been voted as the outstanding product innovation for the outdoors in the last 12 months by the UK’s Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild, winning the Award for Innovation, an accolade set up in memory of former WSA editor, the late Derryck Draper.

Gold Insulation Down Blend fuses 70% engineered water-resistant premium goose down, sourced from socially responsible sources and treated with PrimaLoft’s patented fluorocarbon-free process, with 30% PrimaLoft ultrafine fibres.

According to the company, this blend retains 95% of its warmth, even when wet, and dries four times faster than untreated down. It has a 750 down fill power equivalent and offers lightweight protection, thermal insulation and comfort in extreme weather conditions.

For its part, PrimaLoft Silver Insulation Down Blend fuses 60% engineered water-resistant duck down with 40% PrimaLoft ultrafine fibres.

The insulation solutions came to market in the autumn-winter 2014-2015 collections of adidas; Black Diamond; Kjus, Salewa; Sherpa, Stone Island, Vaude, Helly Hansen and a number of other brands.

PrimaLoft’s European sales manager, Chris Humphris, said on picking up the award: “After years of development, it’s good to see our unique hybrid insulation being recognised by the industry, as well as globally renowned brands.”
