Corporate responsibility comes to the fore at Berghaus

Reporting to chief operating officer James Harris, Ms Gardiner will work closely with the product and sourcing teams to review the design and production processes and will collaborate with the European Outdoor Group.
In recent years, Berghaus has increased its focus on corporate responsibility, for instance, ensuring the down it uses comes from an International Down and Feather Laboratory-audited source and creating an ECO Woven clothing range, due to launch next spring and which saves water and chemicals in its production methods.
Ms Gardiner joins from the University of Melbourne, where she researched corporate responsibility, and worked at Procter & Gamble, WWF, the Carbon Disclosure Project and Net Balance Sustainability Consultancy prior to that.
Mr Harris said: “Our focus on the area of corporate responsibility has increased a great deal in recent years and we can continue to enhance our approach now that we have someone of Elaine’s calibre driving the programme from within the business.”
