Archroma launches new dyes created from agricultural waste

17/11/2014
Specialist textile chemicals producer Archroma has announced a new range of products created from agricultural waste, with which it says it hopes to “help clothing companies on their way to eco-conscious fashion”.

It refers to its new range of dyes as “biosynthetic” because they are derived from almond shells, saw palmetto, rosemary leaves and other natural products. The range is called Earthcolors and is suitable for cotton and cellulose-based fabrics, Archroma said at the time of the launch. It has been four years in the making.

“Our aim is to give consumers a choice,” said the company’s head of textile dyes marketing, Alan Cunningham. “We all should have the possibility to choose the fashion option with the least environmental impact and to be safe in the knowledge that there is substance behind what is claimed on the label.”
