Responsible options now for all PrimaLoft Performance Down Blend types

Performance Down Blend mixes natural down from geese and ducks with the company’s synthetic ultrafine fibres. The technology is available in Gold, Silver and Black varieties, each with a different combination of natural and synthetic material.
“Before RDS, all our down products were basically sourced by the European Down & Feather Association or organisations like it, which guarantee that there is no live plucking or force feeding in between,” PrimaLoft told sportstextiles.com at the time of the announcement. “But if our customer wants 100% guarantee that the waterfowl are handled with the highest degree of care, the RDS covers that.”
It explained that the RDS visually audits every aspect of the supply chain and verifies that conditions and the handling of the animals is as humane as possible. It requires that all aspects of the waterfowl’s life is of the highest standard and is fully traceable. “No one can cheat the system,” PrimaLoft said. All transportation and farm records are audited to make sure that RDS down is not mixed in with non-RDS down.
Brands that elect to use RDS-certified down will incur a small increase upcharge based upon current market demand, PrimaLoft said on making the announcement.
