The Chemicals Management Working Group, led by the US-based Outdoor Industry Association and including representatives across the sector, is to expand its chemicals management framework to include training and tools to encourage brands to promote greener chemistry in their supply chains.

The framework has been adopted by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition for chemicals management measurement in the Higg Index, and the new ChemMap provides users with tools that can “help them to improve”.

The group, part of the Outdoor Industry Association Sustainability Working Group, is also working on developing a China-based supplier training project in development with UNEP, the United Nations Environment Programme.
