Nylstar owner takes control of fibre manufacturer

Owner of polyamide 6.6 brand Nylstar, Praedium expressed an interest in acquiring Miranda de Ebro-based Montefibre in May 2014 after the company, a producer of acrylic fibre, had gone into administration.
Reports in Spain at the end of last year suggested major creditors of Montefibre had declined Praedium’s offer, but the deal got back on track in early 2015 and concluded in late May.
Praedium has suggested it is prepared to invest as much as €100 million in helping Montefibre expand its production portfolio, with carbon fibre one of the target areas for it to move into.
