Among those that stand out is a fibre called Roica eco-smart, which uses more than 50% pre-production industrial waste material in its manufacture. Asahi Kasei has said the product is in keeping with its ethical philosophy and its aim of offering customers “the only true eco-elastane available”. It has said the fibre will help its customers bring “contemporary stretch to sustainable fashion collections”.
Also on show at Interfilière will be Roica perfection, which the Japanese company describes as the “first true eco-stretch polyester-based elastane”. It believes the fibre will work well in intimate and shapewear, offering high levels of heat setting, moulding, and dyeability while using less energy, oil and water in manufacture and processing. “It’s an easy to use, easy to dye all-rounder that is now measurably better for the environment,” Asahi Kasei has said.
