French brand offers flax composite bike helmet
French brand Aegis has launched a bike helmet made from a flax composite, which is UV resistant and scratch-resistant.

Flax and resin composites have been used in sporting goods including skis and surfboards – the flax adds flexibility and impact resistance.

The interior of the helmet is clad in breathable foams (for absorption and quick-drying) and is shaped by hand.

Aegis was founded in 2014 by Etienne-Marie de Boissieu and Benoît Denis. Its Egide range uses natural materials such as leather, carbon and linen sourced from France, where 75% of the world’s flax comes from.
