Pat Loomis retires from Bergans USA
05/01/2016
Current vice-president of sales and marketing for Bergans USA, Keith Patterson, will be his replacement. Mr Loomis and Mr Patterson have a history of success, and together opened Bergans USA in Longmont, Colorado, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Bergans of Norway four years ago, growing sales by 170% during that time, averaging 40%-plus growth per year.
Pat Loomis joined the outdoor industry in 1978 when he and the owners of Lowe Alpine Systems USA established Lowe Alpine Systems International in Ireland with Mr Loomis as chief executive. In 1993, he led a management buy-out of Lowe Group and moved to the US. The group was sold in 1999 to Baird Textiles, at which point Mr Loomis resigned as chief executive.
In 2001, Mr Loomis and Mr Patterson began their long working relationship when Mr Loomis was chosen to launch Deuter USA as its president, and Mr Patterson as its national sales manager. Pat Loomis moved on from Deuter in 2008 and worked across the industry as a consultant until taking up his role at Bergans.
“Pat has played a very significant role in Bergans’ growth in the North American market,” said the Norwegian brand’s international chief executive, Leif Holst-Liæker on announcing the news. “His 37-plus years of outdoor industry experience will certainly be missed. He and Keith have successfully led Bergans USA these past four years, and have had the unique experience of working together in similar capacities previous to joining Bergans. Having had a great mentor in Pat, Keith will be a very successful president moving forward.”
As previously announced in June 2015, Leif Holst-Liæker took over as Bergans of Norway chief executive when Ragnar Jensen announced his retirement after 23 years at the helm.
