Cordura and merino wool prove a good combination for Ortovox

Outdoor clothing brand Ortovox has highlighted combinations of merino wool and Cordura in the material mix of some of the pieces in its summer 2016 collection.

The brand has said the properties these fibres bring to its garments make them especially suited to mountain hikes, alpine climbing and alpine tours.

One example is the Merino Shield TEC alpine climbing shorts and pants, which Orotovox has described as being “extremely scuff-resistant and robust”, largely thanks to the inclusion of Cordura. In Martindale tests used to test scuff resistance, the trousers proved capable of withstanding more than 50,000 abrasion cycles.

Having merino wool, spandex and regular nylon in the mix too gives the climbing pants other functionality, including high levels of breathability and four-way stretch, Ortovox said ahead of the season.
