Burton Snowboards donates to Protect Our Winters
Burton Snowboards has expanded its partnership with non-profit environmental organisation Protect Our Winters (POW) by donating $50,000 in cash. POW is a coalition of snow sports enthusiasts dedicated to raising awareness and fighting climate change in order to “protect winters”.
Burton has been working with POW since 2011, helping spread awareness of the dangers of climate change to members of the snow sports community and using the voices of its affiliated professional athletes to improve climate legislation. Burton CEO Donna Carpenter has previously joined POW at meetings in Washington to discuss the impact of climate change on the snow sports industry.
“Burton has a strong connection to the environment because we started in the mountains, and our lifestyle is all about the outdoors, whether we’re chasing snow or hiking and camping in the summer,” she said.
“We’re proud to support POW because we believe we share a responsibility to preserve the lifestyle we love and promote. Through POW, we can help advocate for polices that focus on protecting our winters and reducing the impact of climate change,” she added.
