"We are really pleased. The international appeal of the OutDoor show is increasing and it continues to act as the focal point for the entire industry, even in these challenging times,” concluded Klaus Wellmann, CEO of event partner Messe Friedrichshafen.
The 23rd edition of the show saw a total of 21,507 trade visitors, slightly higher than in 2015, who had the opportunity to see products from 960 exhibitors. The organisers of the event said that all twelve exhibition halls as well as the outdoor exhibition grounds were at full capacity, with the attendance of brands from more than 40 countries.
“Once again, OutDoor has proved to be an excellent showcase of the latest developments in our sector,” Mark Held, managing director of the European Outdoor Group (EOG).
On the final day of OutDoor 2016, Bern Kullmann, former managing director of backpack manufacturer Deuter, was presented with the OutDoor Honour Award 2016. It recognised his “outstanding contribution” to the outdoor industry.
It was also confirmed that the 2017 edition of OutDoor would take place in June rather than July. It will run from June 18 to 21 to allow the show “show to reflect what is happening in the industry at the best possible time”.
