EOG research shows growth of outdoor market

A study by the European Outdoor Group (EOG) showed that the global outdoor market grew by 2.1% in value and 1.7$ in volume during 2015. The figures are based on data from 111 brands across Europe.

The two largest outdoor markets, Germany and France, grew by 2.2% and 2.5% respectively. Southern Europe and Eastern Europe showed the most growth, 2.3% and 2.2% respectively. The growth of the European outdoor market outpaced the region’s overall economic growth.

Of the seven main categories of outdoor products, backpacks was the fastest growing put apparel lagged behind, recording growth of 1.2% compared to the market average of 1.7%. 

“The EOG is very aware of the need to provide sustained support to the sector through both good and bad times,” said EOG general secretary, Mark Held.
