Nylstar’s growth seems short-lived

Reports from Spain say that polyamide filaments and yarns producer Nylstar is taking steps to lay off 185 workers, leaving it with 40 employees. Further suggestions are that yarn production at its factory in the province of Girona is on hold.

Founded in 1923, Nylstar was acquired in 2009 by private equity firm Praedium. In 2013, it appointed a new chief executive, Zigor Kortazar, and said it was optimistic about maintaining 20% annual growth over the next five years. Mr Kortazar left his post in April.
