Nylstar renews focus on high-end yarns

12/11/2019
Spanish yarn producer Nylstar has relaunched with a focus on higher end yarns and sustainability stories, following a restructure that included a temporary hiatus in 2016.

The company’s new sustainability programme focuses on water saving, zero water pollution and recycling, according to marketing manager Zuzana Vaskova.

She told www.sportstextiles.com: “For instance, with water saving, we are focusing on ‘eco colours’ which is our dope dyed solution.

“We are also promoting to brands that if they make something with 100% Meryl, it is completely recyclable. Our nylon 6.6 fibre has natural stretch so you don’t need to use elastane.”

The company works with an external partner to produce Meryl Recycled yarn, which is made from between 50% and 100% post-production waste.

Brand partners include adidas, lululemon and Under Armour.
