Canadian start-up uses merino wool for no-wash garments
A Canada-bases start-up company has turned to merino wool to solve the problem of heavy luggage while travelling.

Inspired by a suitcase-laden climb up a steep hill in Greece, the founders of Unbound Apparel set about developing a range of no-wash garments to reduce the number of items that one needs to pack for a trip.

They turned to merino wool due to its excellent moisture wicking properties. Instead of trapping moisture against the body, the fabric allows it to pass through, meaning the wearer stays dry and odour-free.

Merino wool is typically used in outdoor wear and sweaters but Unbound Apparel have developed a range of T-Shirts, underwear and socks. The hope is that these items can be worn endlessly without needing to be washed.

The company launched a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo and at the time of writing had raised more than $170,000, far exceeding its initial target of $30,000.
