Chinese and Indian organisations announce cooperation

The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT) are to work together to explore new business opportunities that could see India increase its apparel exports to China.

The two organisations agreed a deal during the 32nd International Apparel Foundation (IAF) World Fashion Convention in Mumbai, India (September 27-28).

"This MoU will benefit both countries when we explore opportunities,” said Rahul Mehta, president of the CMAI and outgoing president of the IAF. “This will ultimately benefit India’s apparel industry.”

He added that the CMAI and the CCCT would jointly organise trade shows and cooperate to attract new customers.
