Nike challenges designers to “reinvent footwear”
Sportswear manufacturer Nike has launched a challenge which encourages designers to create footwear that can be used by athletes of all abilities.

The Nike Ease Challenge is designed to attract innovators able to provide new solutions for footwear that can be more easily put on, secured and taken off without the use of the hands.

“Nike is driven by a competitive spirit that drives us to do the seemingly impossible for our athletes,” said Mark Parker, Nike CEO. “Today, we are working with others who share our passion for removing barriers through breakthrough innovation. I can’t wait to see what powerful ideas come out of this challenge.”

It aims to build on the success of the advancements already made in this area by Nike, including the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, Nike FLYEASE (pictured), Nike Air Rift and Nike Sock Dart .

“Knowing how important, how life-changing it can be for people who’ve never tied their own shoes to have a viable alternative, we feel a great sense of urgency to explore new solutions for all,” said Tobie Hatfield, designer and creator of Nike FlyEase footwear.
