Nike self-lacing shoes available in December

Nike has announced that its HyperAdapt 1.0 self-lacing sneaker will be on sale to customers from December 1.

Appointments can be booked via the Nike website or Nike+ App to test the sneakers at the Nike Soho store or the Nike+ ClubHouse, both in New York. They will be available for purchase for $720.

Nike says a small group of Nike+ users will gain early access on November 28 ahead of the initial release a few days later. They will be available in select retailers later in December.

The HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers have a motorised lacing system made from nylon bands. Located on the sides of the shoe, they can be tightened or loosened by pushing a button.

Nike says it is working on an updated version that adapts to the foot automatically, eliminating the need for the buttons.
