It achieved net profit of 2.39 billion yuan ($347 million) over the 12 months, a record annual performance for the company.
These results were driven by strong domestic sales, with the Chinese public’s passion for sport reinvigorated by the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Anta is an official partner of the Chinese Olympic committee and provides official podium outfits for the whole team in Brazil. It also supplied kit for athletes in a range of sports, including gymnastics, wrestling, rowing and water polo.
“The next 10 years will see the sports shoes and apparel markets expand, driven by mainly demand from the middle to mid-upper classes as their spending continue to see significant increase,” predicted Ding Shizhong, chairman of Anta.
He pinpointed running, indoor training, basketball, soccer and winter sports as areas in which the company expects to see an increase in interest from the Chinese public.
