Swedish retailer Lindex has launched Re:Design, a limited edition collection of upcycled products that have been redesigned and remade in Sweden.

Lindex said the launch is the latest step in its efforts to explore new ways to makes its manufacturing more circular.

It features six items for women, which are redesigned and remade Better Denim garments from previous seasons. They have been given new details or taken apart and put back together to create completely new products.

“Prolonging the life of great garments by redesigning them into new amazing pieces is really one more step towards a more sustainable and resource efficient way to produce great fashion,” said Sara Winroth, sustainability manager at Lindex. “For this collection, we have looked at each original garment’s possibilities and explored new circular ways of working to use less resources and prolong the garments lifetime.”

Re-Design is part of a pilot project carried out by Lindex in collaboration with the Re:Textile organisation at The Swedish School of Textiles. The organisation develops design and business models for redesign and circularity in the textile industry.
