Mount Vernon yarn offers added stretch

05/04/2017
Flame resistant fabric specialist Mount Vernon has expanded its FlexTex range of flame resistant (FR) stretch fabrics.

The collection now includes six denim and four piece-dyed fabrics. The company said they have been designed in conjunction with apparel manufacturers to provide optimal comfort and stretch, whilst also retaining the characteristics and look of traditional non-stretch denim.

Mount Vernon’s FlexTex fabrics are made using an elastomeric fibre designed to add mobility to fabric. This gives workers wearing FR apparel an increased range of motion.

Previous fabrics in the collection offered stretch of 12% to 15% but Mount Vernon has explained that the new developments may allow as much as 20% stretch. They are made using a proprietary hybrid yarn, TreFlex.

“We believe workers should have comfortable clothing options on the job and off,” said Mike Woods, vice president of FR fabrics for Mount Vernon. We’ve developed our line of FR FlexTex fabrics with the comfort and character of everyday denim and piece-dyed fabrics, combined with the exceptional protection and durability of Mount Vernon FR fabrics.”
