Schoeller to help develop moisture management technology

10/05/2017
Swiss textile developer Schoeller has signed an agreement to market a smart moisture management solution for performance and outdoor clothing that the developers claim could offer a “generational advancement”.

The Hydro_Bot technology was unveiled by Electrokinetic technology specialist Osmotex at February’s ISPO exhibition. It consists of an active membrane that uses a small electric pulse to drive moisture away from the body.

At the time of the announcement, Osmotex revealed that Schoeller was a production partner of the project, helping the company to create fabric panels. As well as marketing the technology to its clients, Schoeller will also assist Osmotex in supporting client projects.

“The agreement with Schoeller finally secures our quality production, and we are soon ready to provide samples for the demo jackets for 2018/19 season,” said Trond Heldal, director of R&D and operations at Osmotex.

The partners also confirmed that tests on the Hydro_Bot panels has shown encouraging results. Mr Heldal said he was “pleased with the results to date”.
