Schoeller’s heatable soft-shell receives design award

Textile developer Schoeller has been awarded the Design Preis Schweiz award for 2017 for its heatable soft-shell material. 

The company unveiled the innovation at Techtextil in May 2017. It has a heatable backing manufactured by Eschler, which Schoeller acquired in 2012. Specially incorporated conductive yarns enable uniform heat distribution. 

Schoeller says the fabric can be cut to size without affecting the embedded technology. It is suitable for use in outdoor clothing and motorcycle apparel. 

Among the criteria for the Design Preis Schweiz award are technology, material combinations and innovation.
