Schoeller and Textilcolor announce polyester dyeing “revolution”

10/04/2017
Swiss companies Schoeller and Textilcolor have developed what they are calling a “revolutionary” polyester dyeing process. They will have the new technology, ecodye, on display at Techtextil 2017 in Frankfurt (May 9-12).

They describe ecodye as a new auxiliary concept for use in particular in polyester dyeing processes. The technology accelerates the dyeing process and helps cut costs, while at the same time helping to preserve the environment with “a low level of demand on resources”.

It can help manufacturers shorten their overall process times by more than 30%, the companies have said. At the same time, it reduces energy consumption by 20% and the water requirement by 25%, while improving the evenness of dyeing in polyester textiles.

The technology is already being used by producers of outdoor, sportswear and technical knitted fabrics, primarily in Europe, South and Central America, Turkey, Bangladesh and China.

In the build-up to Techtextil, Hans Kohn, the chief operating officer of Schoeller Technologies, said: “Ecodye is an auxiliary of the future. We are pleased to have been able to develop this advanced product in successful partnership with Textilcolor.”
