EOG co-founder to step down from current role

The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has announced that its general secretary, Mark Held, intends to step down from his role.

Mr Held co-founded the EOG in 2003 alongside Rolf Schmid. They managed to bring together 19 of the world’s largest outdoor companies, all of which agreed to collaborate on the key issues facing their industry. It now has 97 full members and 10 associate members, including brands, retailers, technology companies and national industry associations.

Mr Held took over as general secretary of the EOG in 2005. He will work closely with the EOG board to find his successor and has agreed to remain in the position while the transition takes place.

He said this decision had been in planning “for some time”, and stressed that there is no rush to appoint a new general secretary. “My commitment to the success of the EOG is as strong as ever and I’m excited at the prospect of new ideas coming into the organisation,” he added.
