22/11/2017
It announced in June that current secretary general, Mark Held, had signalled his intention to step down from the role. Mr Held was also a co-founder of the EOG.
In a post on its website, the EOG said it was seeking to appoint an “outstanding individual” to lead its executive team, highlighting that the successful applicant must be capable of operating comfortably in a senior business and political environment.
The EOG general secretary is responsible for developing and delivering a strategy that addresses the key issues facing EOG members and the wider outdoor industry. He or she will lead a six-person team, who are based in the UK, Switzerland and Germany.
Among the qualities the organisation is looking for are a minimum of 10 years of experience in the outdoor sector, proven experience at the board level of organisations, and excellent communication, networking and negotiation skills. The person must also be comfortable engaging with and influencing politicians, non-governmental organisations, other trade associations and industry stakeholders.
More information about the position can be found on the EOG website.
