Patagonia’s Worn Wear initiative heads online

The brand has previously carried out Worn Wear tours in both the US and Europe. At each stop it offered customers the opportunity to have their garments repaired free of charge, regardless of brand. This was designed to encourage consumers to extend the life of the clothing they already owned rather than purchasing new products.
The Worn Wear online store deepens Patagonia’s commitment to building a circular garment industry.
“The need for businesses to step up and address the effects of climate change has never been greater,” the brand explained. “The global apparel market is worth $3 trillion, but unfortunately the low cost of manufacturing and the relentless drive for profits above all else has driven many companies to offer cheap, throwaway clothing rather than build high-quality gear built to last.”
Patagonia accepts any clothing that functions perfectly and is in good condition. It then cleans the garments, mostly without the use of water. The person who donated the item receives credits that can be used in the brand’s retail stores, on its online site, and on WornWear.com.
