Fashion designer turns to Santoni to create shoe

Italian sustainable fashion designer Tiziano Guardini incorporated a shoe made using technology from knitting machine manufacturer Santoni and featuring Fulgar’s Evo yarn into the collection he presented during Milan Fashion Week in February.

The shoe featured a seamless upper made entirely from the Evo yarn, which is derived from castor oil. The oil comes from a plant that is easy to grow, is totally renewable, does not require the use of land that can be used to grow food for humans or animals, and does not consume large volumes of water.

Santoni’s X Machine technology allowed for the production of a seamless one-piece upper without the creation of any waste. This technology was launched at the Simac exhibition in Milan (February 20-22).
