OutDoor 2018 “shows what the industry needs”
The 25th edition of the OutDoor exhibition (June 17-20), which was taking place for the final time in Friedrichshafen, on the shores of Lake Constance, attracted a total of 30,000 visitors from 88 countries, the organisers have announced.

Klaus Wellmann, CEO of Messe Friedrichshafen, said: “With the concept for this fair, we are continuing our tradition of showing what the industry needs - in the past, in the present and in the future. The weather is glorious and both exhibitors and visitors are delighted. As a result, we have the highest hopes for next year.”

These comments are interesting as it was announced in February that the OutDoor exhibition would be moving to Munich from 2019 after Messe München was chosen by the European Outdoor Group (EOG) as its new organiser.

At the time, Mr Wellmann pledged that Messe Friedrichshafen would work to develop a new, independent outdoor exhibition for launch in the summer of 2019, citing “good support” from the outdoor industry.

Sources present at OutDoor 2018 have told sportstextiles that banners carrying branding for ‘OUTDOOR 2019’ were on display at the entrances to the exhibition centre.

A website operated by Messe Friedrichshafen (outdoor2019.com) is available online and carries the slogan: ‘OUTDOOR 2019 – simply different’.
