New Friedrichshafen exhibition will not go ahead

The OutDoor exhibition was held successfully for a number of years in Friedrichshafen, on the shores of Lake Constance. This came to an end in 2018 when the European Outdoor Group (EOG), which owned the show, announced that it would be moving to Munich under the guidance of Messe München. The first show in Munich took place earlier this month under the name OutDoor by ISPO.
Messe Friedrichshafen was disappointed with the decision to relocate the exhibition and immediately pledged to launch its own trade show. It officially presented OUTDOOR Friedrichshafen in August 2018. Its inaugural edition was due to take place from September 17-19.
The group has now announced it will “postpone” this new format, saying that despite having received “a great deal of encouragement”, it has been unable to “generate a sufficient response” from the outdoor sector.
“We are postponing our new activities in the outdoor segment and consciously leaving the date and the direction open for the time being,” said Klaus Wellmann, chief executive of Messe Friedrichshafen.
He gave no indication as to when the organiser would reassess the viability of its new concept.
