Messe München to unveil its vision for OutDoor

23/05/2018
The new organisers of the OutDoor exhibition, Messe München, will hold an event on June 27 to unveil details about the new format of the show.

Following an extensive tender process, Munich was announced in February as the new home of OutDoor, ahead of Hamburg and current host city Friedrichshafen.

The decision to appoint Messe München as the new organiser was made by members of the European Outdoor Group (EOG), which owns the show. Messe München is also responsible for ISPO.

The new organiser’s first step has been to change the name of the event. From 2019, it will be known as ‘OutDoor by ISPO’. Its first edition will take place from June 30 to July 3, 2019.

“Participants can look forward to a modern concept. We will rethink and redesign the term ‘outdoor’ together with the sector,” said Klaus Dittrich, chairman and CEO of Messe München. “The new OutDoor by ISPO is now already being brought to life — we will show what makes it a future-oriented platform that can be used throughout the year.”

He suggested greater attention will be paid to trail running and watersports under the new format of the show. There will also be new opportunities for exhibitors, offerings tailored to retailers and separate events for consumers during the fair.

Following the first edition of 'Outdoor by ISPO' in 2019 (June 30-July 3), it will take place on the following dates:

June 28 to July 1, 2020
June 20 to 23, 2021
