ASICS stumbles with weak results in Japan and US
Sports brand ASICS achieved worldwide sales revenues of just over $1.75 billion in the first six months of 2018. This represents a decline of 5.9% compared to the same months in 2017.

Sales increased by 4.2% in Europe and by 6.8% in east Asia, but fell in the brand’s home market, Japan, by 3.6%, and in the North America by as much as 22.4%.

ASICS explained the figures for Japan by saying it had withdrawn many of its lower-margin sportswear lines there to concentrate more on higher-margin products such as its Onitsuka Tiger brand, which sold well, it said.

It said weakness in the US market was the main reason for its decline in the Americas.
