New president for US textile body NCTO

19/02/2019
The National Council of Textile Organisations (NCTO) has announced that Kimberly Glas will take over as its president and CEO on April 29. She replaces Auggie Tantillo, who earlier this month announced his intention to step down.

Ms Glas’s appointment was unanimously approved by the NCTO board of directors. She has more than 20 years of experience in government policy development and advocacy. She served as a key leader on behalf of the textile industry in the administration of President Obama, including as deputy assistant secretary for textiles, consumer goods and materials at the US Department of Commerce.

Announcing the appointment, NCTO chairman Marty Moran said: “The US textile industry is experiencing an exciting and dynamic period.  A new policy environment has evolved in Washington that places a greater emphasis on domestic manufacturing and Kim is an excellent choice to steer the industry through these new opportunities.”

In April 2018, NCTO merged with the American Fibre Manufacturers Association (AFMA). The new organisation took on the NCTO name and Auggie Tantillo became its first president.
