Decathlon to open first full-scale US store

The company has previously opened a smaller-scale store in San Francisco, which it refers to as a “lab store”. It opted to do this in order to better understand the needs of local sports enthusiasts before expanding its retail footprint in the area. The Emeryville store will be six times larger than that one.
It has described the new store as an “experiential centre”, explaining that there will be places to test products prior to making a purchase. In addition, there will be state-of-the-art technologies like RFID checkouts and cashless systems.
