Textile Exchange releases Responsible Down Standard 3.0

16/07/2019
The Textile Exchange has announced the release of the third version of the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). Originally developed by outdoor brand The North Face, it was ‘gifted’ to the Textile Exchange in 2014.

The organisation has said RDS 3.0 represents “the most substantial revision” to the standard since its launch back in 2014. Its scope covers more than 500 million birds.

Key changes for the new version include making stunning before slaughter mandatory at the slaughter site, stronger criteria related to handling, record keeping and training of workers, and increased observation of parent farms in industrial goose supply chains.

Full details of the new standard can be found here.
