Italian fabric developer Tessitura Taiana Virgilio has worked with The Woolmark Company to launch a new fabric called Kinetech Wolf Wool. It has described the new product as “an amazing fabric, like a three-layer, but engineered in a single woven structure with one side made from Woolmark wool”.

It said the fabric is designed for use in “extreme performance” garments for the most hostile climates on earth.

“This is the result of long and meticulous research and testing,” said chief executive, Matteo Taiana, on announcing the new development. “We aimed to meet the growing demand for a fabric that combines unparalleled innovative textile technology with the legendary strength and ease of the purest wool for incomparable comfort.”

After wearing a prototype jacket during a test in the Alps, one athlete commented: “I was wearing this jacket in a really hostile climate, during a long mountain trail run, when suddenly it started to rain, then to snow. I was alone in the forest but felt comfortable and in control, free to move fast and light. I felt like a wolf in my natural element.”

Taiana will present Kinetech Wolf Wool for the first time at the Functional Fabric Fair in New York on July 22 and 23.
