KJUS tech jacket manages moisture with the touch of a button
A wearable tech jacket from Swiss sports brand KJUS offers moisture management via a control box inside the jacket and an accompanying app.

The Hydro_Bot technology actively pumps moisture from inside the jacket to the outside with an electro-osmotic membrane designed to, according to the company, protect the wearer from “the dreaded post-activity chill caused by trapped moisture”. Suitable even in sub-zero temperatures, the jacket is a 2019 ISPO Award Gold winner.

The 7Sphere Hydro_Bot jacket, which retails for approximately £1,300, is constructed with an 86% polyamide and 14% elastane face fabric and a Schoeller c_change membrane. According to KJUS, the Schoeller membrane is an adaptive fabric that opens to allow excess heat and water vapour to be expelled and contracts to conserve body heat and protect against freezing and cooling down.

A button integrated into the jacket turns the current in the conductive material on and off, though this can also be done via the app using a smartphone. This functionality allows the wearer to increase the jacket’s level of breathability to maintain a more consistent temperature or to cool down as he or she works up a sweat. Turning off the current reverses the process to make the jacket warmer.
